CECC 9-1-1 Dispatchers Needed
About our Team
The Hays County Combined Emergency Communications Center (CECC) is the centralized hub for swift and efficient emergency response within Hays County. The center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The CECC Director is Stephanie Robinson. The HCSO Commander is Lt. Todd Riffe.
Our hard-working ECOs, the “first” first responders, gather critical information, provide life-saving instructions such as CPR, and dispatch Police, Fire, or EMS under high pressure circumstances to ensure public and responder safety.
Working 12 hour shifts, staffing averages three radio dispatchers and three call takers. Emergency Communications Officers process and disseminate calls for service for the Hays County Sheriff's Office, Buda Police Department, Uhland Police Department, five Constable Offices, six Fire Departments, five emergency medical services agencies, Fire Task Forces and five judicial precincts. On any given day, ECOs process an average of 1500 telephone calls, which resulted in over 140,000 posted calls for service for Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS calls for service in 2025 alone.
Always focused on public service and dedication to their communities, ECOs work tirelessly to make sure in times of need, all calls are answered. This includes major events, such as floods, winter storms, and wildland fires. Hays County ECOs work closely with Hays County Office of Emergency Services to make sure the public is updated with life-saving information during these events.
ECOs work hand in hand with HCSO deputies to provide assistance to victims of crime and circumstance, including victims of assault, child victims, and elderly victims. Our ECOs may be tasked with answering over 100 phone calls for a major collision on a highway such as the IH 35 corridor or US 290. Our ECOs have also helped bring new life into the world, as they provided instructions to help deliver several babies over the past few years!
Often the "unseen" heroes, Hays County CECC ECOs are skilled professionals who help turn panic into order, providing the crucial link between residents in distress and the help they need.
