Important Notices and Messages

  • Starting Tuesday, July 1, 2025 the tax office is going to adjust the time they take lunch to better service the public. The tax office will be fully staffed during lunch time from 12 -1 p.m. This change will occur at the main office as well as all substations.
  • The Tax Office will be closed on the 3rd Wednesday of each month for Staff Development beginning March 19, 2025.
  • Beginning Monday, March 31, 2025 the Tax Office will process titles from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. *No title transactions will be processed after 4 p.m.*
  • Due to the need to certify the results of the State Ballot Measures (Propositions 11 and 13) and the Hays CISD Voter Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) on November 4, 2025, the official tax rate for the year cannot be finalized until all election results are certified. This is the required process before the tax rate can be officially adopted by the Board of Trustees. The Hays CISD Board of Trustees is now scheduled to hold their meeting to officially adopt the tax rate on Monday, November 17, 2025. Following the official adoption of the tax rate, the final property tax bills are expected to be generated and mailed out by the end of November. We want to ensure transparency regarding this process. The official 2025 tax rate bills and all related documentation will be made available online here on our public website immediately after they are generated. We appreciate your patience as we follow the legally mandated process to ensure an accurate and compliant tax rate adoption following the election
