Harry was a decorated veteran, receiving numerous awards, including a Purple Heart for wounds received in the Korean Conflict. Mac, as he was known, distinguished himself on the U.S. Army Rifle Team as a world champion 500-yard rifle competitor. He also served as a Rifle Team trainer and coach. He was an exceptional husband, father, and friend to all.

Henry’s battalion was sent to Iceland to build airbase runways to ferry military aircraft to England. Henry was involved in a bulldozer accident that broke vertebrae in his neck. He was transferred to Providence, Rhode Island, until his discharge in 1945.

Harvey was rejected from Naval service due to having good sight in only one eye. He served on fuel tankers supplying the military in the Pacific theater. These ships were usually without escort and were considered prime targets by enemy submarines.
