Introduction

The Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5 is proud to serve the residents of Buda and the surrounding Hays County area with integrity, fairness, and a deep commitment to our community.

Often called the “People’s Court,” we handle a wide range of civil and criminal matters, ensuring justice is accessible, impartial, and rooted in compassion for all who come through our doors.

In addition to our court duties, we also serve as coroners for Hays County. This means we’re on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to conduct inquests and provide support to families during some of their most difficult moments.

We’re also pleased to offer complimentary notary services to the public as part of our commitment to the community.

At Precinct 5, we believe in serving with integrity and leading with fairness.
