Pet Resource

Established in April of 2023, The Hays County Pet Resource Center was a virtual center established to connect pet owners with local services and resources to keep families together and out of the animal shelter system. The Hays County Pet Resource, Education and Research Center was a partnership between Hays County and Austin Pets Alive! (APA!), an Animal Resource Center based out of Austin. APA! served as the project coordinator. Through programs, pet owners can receive case management support for help with their pets. The Pet Resource Center did not operate a physical animal shelter facility. On March 25th. 2025, the Commissioners' Court decided to terminate the Professional Services Agreement between Hays County and Austin Pets Alive! related to RFP 2024-P10 for the Hays County Pet

Resource, Education, and Research Center - Program Coordinator; and to continue commitment moving forward with the Professional Services Agreement between Hays County and Broaddus & Associates, Inc. for Project Management Services in order to partner with both local municipalities and nonprofit organizations to deliver the Hays County Pet Resource, Education, and Research Center in a timely and cost-effective manner.
